4/10 Biology update and homework due 4/17

Hi folks,

Today we had the incredible GMO Debate of 2019.  It went very well.  Several excellent points were made and for each point there were many excellent counter-points.  Very impressive work today.  I will be posting the recording soon and I invite all parents to take a look if you have the time.

For homework next week, I'd like you to tie 10 of the concepts we've been working with in biology this year to the topic of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's) and give me at least one example of how GMO's are related to the concept.

For example, human beings are part of the food chain and GMO's may help in providing food for the ever growing population of humans.

Feel free to pull in some of the research you did for the debate or explore more materials if you need to.

5/1 Biology class and homework due 5/8

  Hi folks, We got into the plant kingdom today and got into some of the basic classifications and into the purposes of some plant parts.  We will get into this a bit deeper next week if we have time. I've include the pictures from this week's lecture as well.  You'll notice that I put the monocot vs dicot table on  there for you as well. There will be a quiz on archaea, bacteria and what we've covered so far in plants so be sure to spend some time with that.  Be sure to focus some time on the differences between monocot and dicot plants. For homework next week read pages 583-602. Do questions 1 - 18 on page 604.
